Coventry Airport has announced that low cost airline Hapag-Lloyd Express will be flying from Germany starting 1/11/04

20.07.2004 Coventry Airport has today announced that low cost airline Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX) will be flying to Cologne/ Bonn from the airport starting 1 November 2004.
 
Germany’s leading low cost airline will operate four return flights from the launch date with two additional flights added later. The flights will complement the winter flights schedule from Thomsonfly.com, already operating from Coventry, that was announced last week.
 
Managing Director of Coventry Airport, Bill Savage, said, “Since the recent start of the passenger flights from Coventry Airport we have received many enquiries and requests for German destinations to be added, largely by local businesses. As well providing new opportunities for business links with Germany’s prime economic region it is also a great destination for city breaks and holidays in the wider area.”
 
Cologne has Beethoven and Schubert, and Warwickshire has William Shakespeare - the new route will be popular for inbound tourism, enabling visitors to experience the history, heritage and culture of Stratford Upon Avon, Coventry and the wider region.
 
The route will be popular for inbound tourism to the area, coming from an area rich in history and musical heritage drawn by the attractions of the literary heritage of Stratford Upon Avon, and Coventry and Warwickshire.
