Thomsonfly launches self service check-in at Manchester Airport

08.08.2006 Thomsonfly in conjunction with Manchester Airport plc have introduced a fantastic new self-service check in at Manchester airport. From the 2nd of August 2006, all Thomsonfly customers have the choice of how to check in when they fly from Terminal 2, Manchester Airport. This new initiative will offer Thomsonfly customers an alternative way of checking in at no extra cost and aims to improve the overall check-in experience and reduce waiting times. Thomsonfly were the first UK holiday airline to trial self service check-in at Manchester and Gatwick Airports during 2005 and are pleased that this service is now available to all Thomsonfly customers.

Six simple steps
The new Self Service Kiosks (CUSS), in vibrant lime green, are located around Terminal 2. In six easy to follow steps, customers can select their flight, retrieve their booking by swiping their passport, check in all members of their party and print off boarding cards in less than one minute. Even groups of up to nine passengers can check in using the new Self Service Kiosks. If customers have pre allocated their seats these will automatically be printed on the boarding card. Any one without allocated seats will be actioned automatically by the system.

Baggage
All members of a party can drop off their baggage at the express bag drops and then proceed to departures as normal. Customers with hand baggage only (max. 10kgs and 55x40x20cms) can also use the Self Service Kiosks and then bypass the express bag drops and go straight to departures. To assist customers, dedicated staff will be on hand if help is required.

Customers travelling to Sandford (Florida), Cancun (Mexico), Montego Bay (Jamaica), Ocean Village Cruises or those travelling with an infant under the age of two will unfortunately not be able to use the Self Service Kiosks at this time.

Customers can retrieve their booking (by swiping their passport through the machine), check themselves in and print off their boarding card and groups of up to six can check-in. Customers with hold baggage can drop them at the “fast bag drop” desk where they will be tagged and sent for loading onto the aircraft. Customers with hand baggage can go straight to departures via security. Dedicated staff will also be available if help is required.
